Human Rights
One of the reasons I am grateful I live in the United States of America is because this Country’s Founding Fathers created a Constitution and Bill of Rights to assure our “inalienable rights and freedoms”. An attempt to create a Republic of democratic principles. Never to be ruled by an Autocracy again. History has shown it has been a rough and rocky road to create amendments to those documents that assure the rights of freedom to every human residing in this Country. The one Amendment that was never ratified resulting in expiration, The Equal Rights Amendment, would have stopped many of the laws being crafted and implemented today to take away freedoms that have been hard won over the short history of this Country. I hope to see it reintroduced and ratified before I die.
The Equal Rights Amendment (introduced in Congress originally in 1923, and reintroduced in 1972) would have prohibited deprivation of equality of rights (discrimination) by the federal or state governments on account of sex. A seven-year ratification time limit was initially placed on the amendment, but as the deadline approached, Congress granted a three-year extension. Thirty-five states ratified the proposed amendment prior to the original deadline, three short of the number required for it to be implemented (five of them later voted to rescind their ratification). No further states ratified the amendment within the extended deadline. In 2017, Nevada became the first state to ratify the ERA after the expiration of both deadlines, followed by Illinois in 2018, and Virginia in 2020, purportedly bringing the number of ratifications to 38. However, experts and advocates have acknowledged legal uncertainty about the consequences of these ratifications, due to the expired deadlines and the five states’ purported revocations.
Reviewing that history it is clear that over time more than half of this Country is in favor of this Amendment, but representatives in States where the voting majority have favored religious control or racial and sexual discrimination over equal human rights – the majority of Citizens are still oppressed, and losing the rights that have been established over the years.
The 2024 Election for both States and Federal governments will be a turning point for this Country. Will our experiment in Democracy (government of the people, by the people) fall, or will it continue to stand as the banner of freedom and human rights that it has been working toward until 2016? It depends entirely on every Citizen of voting age to cast their votes, and for them all to be counted. If the majority of voters are apathetic and refuse to learn and understand how important this election is to our freedoms, and the voting majority are in favor of a dictatorial government – we will lose an important battle. It is my intention to educate as many people as I am able to understand how important it is to put people in office who are the voice of the majority of Americans, rather than the wealthy elite and big corporations.
When Does A Human Fetus Become A Sentient Being?
The most glaring freedom being taken away today is the right of a Woman to decide to bring a pregnancy to term or to abort it FOR ANY REASON! The dogmas of all religions are being pushed upon our human rights in direct conflict with our Constitution because of apathy and disenfranchisement at the ballot box.
The age old question that humans have debated ever since our brain became aware of “life” is, when does life actually begin? Quantum theory makes that answer scientifically simple. The moment a wave of energy influences a particle into action life begins for that particle. We must assume, then, that anything that we can physically see, touch, smell, taste or hear is alive. That includes molecules/atoms like dust, dirt, sand or any other inanimate object – As well as things we perceive as alive like amoeba, viruses, bacteria, plants and animals. Humans are an animal that has evolved to a high level of intelligence and reasoning. It seems to me the debate about when life begins is actually a debate about when a life becomes sentient.
A sentient being is one who perceives and responds to sensations of whatever kind—sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell or thought. Sentient ultimately comes from the Latin verb sentire, which means “to feel” or “to perceive,” and is related to the noun sensus, meaning “sense.” A human evolves in it’s mother’s womb and can only ultimately become an independent human at the time of birth. Therefore, a child can only be considered an independent human at the time of birth – not before. Most infants cannot be fully sentient until around 2 years after birth. These first two years are critically important. It is a time when every effort of the parents and community surrounding them can teach them how to communicate their growing awareness, and how love can overcome every fear. As an infant thrives and grows into full “awareness of being” as an independent entity, it needs to be taught Unconditional Love. From age two to age eight a child then learns how to navigate life using essential skills he learned up until the age of two. These skills can help him evolve into a self-sustained individual. Without those skills, the adult will suffer from the struggles we each must endure in this lifetime.
I believe that awareness doesn’t begin when we are born into this world, but has no beginning and no end. A fetus is not a viable human being until it is born. Until that time it is still part of the mother’s body. Religions, without scientific evidence, believe a fetus is an independent human being. In 2023, because our Country is being overrun by dogmas of religion and fascist thinking, human rights are being taken away from every woman.
I believe each of us created our own set of circumstances in this existence we call “life”. Each of us has our own unique journey that is designed by us to experience every moment in a way that ultimately brings us back to the awareness of being one with all that exists. It is my sincere hope that fascism will be replaced by democracy world-wide in my lifetime.
Footnote:
To understand my perspective more fully, you can reference my personal philosophy on this site. My opinion in this post has roots in Scientific evidence, but more importantly, ring true to my awareness of Source Energy. I have been an observer of human interaction and behavior my entire lifetime. I realize my opinion conflicts with at least half of the population in the USA, including many of my relatives and friends, and with most religious dogmas. However, I have never found a more sound reason to believe what I do. As I have said in other posts, your opinions and debate are welcome as long as they are civil.
Namaste!
