Astral Projection
Advanced Meditation Technique
Astral projection is the intentional act of separating your astral body (or soul) from your physical body to explore the astral plane. Though often associated with near-death experiences, many people believe it can be achieved through conscious practice. Here’s a summary to getting started with astral projection.
1. Preparation
Understanding what astral projection is and reading about others’ experiences can mentally prepare you for the journey. While it can be attempted anytime, early morning is often recommended when the body is naturally more relaxed and the mind is still close to the dream state.
Choose a quiet, comfortable room where you won’t be disturbed. Lie down on your back, close your eyes, and relax your body completely—progressively releasing muscle tension from head to toe. Focus on slow, deep breathing, and clear your mind of distractions. Some feedback from others say using a quartz crystal placed on the third eye or held in the hand may help raise your vibration and protect your energy.
2. Moving the Soul From the Body
To begin the process, enter a hypnotic (hypnagogic) state—a phase between waking and sleep. For details about how I do this check out my article on Meditation. Focus on a body part (like a hand or foot), visualizing it until it seems to move without physically doing so. Gradually extend this visualization to your entire body. Astral Projection is simply an advanced meditation practice.
Next, you may begin to feel vibrations—a common precursor to separation. These sensations are normal and shouldn’t be feared; instead, surrender to them as your astral body prepares to detach.
Once the vibrations stabilize, imagine yourself standing up and walking across the room. Turn around and look at your physical body. If you feel that your consciousness has shifted and you’re observing your body from outside, you’ve successfully experienced an out-of-body experience (OBE).
To return, focus on your body and allow the connection—often visualized as a silver cord—to guide you back. Begin moving your fingers and toes to regain full physical awareness.
3. Exploring the Astral Plane
After mastering basic astral projection, test its validity. During a session, visit another room and observe an unfamiliar object. When you return to your body, physically verify its details. This helps confirm that your experience wasn’t purely imagined.
As you become more confident, you can explore new and unfamiliar locations. Always take mental notes and verify what you see afterward to reinforce your skills.
Some worry about spiritual dangers during astral travel, such as negative entities or interference with the silver cord. Protection can be established by imagining yourself surrounded in white light and saying a prayer or setting an intention. The silver cord cannot be broken—it naturally maintains the soul-body connection.
Advanced practitioners can even meet other travelers or perform distance healing. To heal someone, envision them in the astral plane and send healing light with pure, loving intention.
In conclusion, astral projection is a deeply personal and spiritual experience that, with practice and protection, can offer healing, exploration, and greater self-awareness. Enjoy the journey with an open heart and mind.
