My Journey With Cancer
Cancer SUCKS!
This is a summary of my Journey with cancer. On March 22, 2018 I was diagnosed with Kaposi Sarcoma (KS) when a lesion on my wrist was biopsied by my dermatologist. My primary care doctor referred me to an oncologist who ordered blood tests and discovered some anomalies indicating kidney issues, so he ordered a PET scan. We were both stumped because KS is typically found in older Italian men, and people with HIV. I am a descendant of Italians, but have never had HIV.
Cancer lesions were growing in my left kidney and lower left lung. He changed the diagnosis from KS to Metastatic KS, and he told me I needed surgery soon to remove my kidney and a portion of my lung. I pushed back and said I needed a 2nd opinion – so my primary care doctor referred me to another oncologist.
Of course, I began a search for anything I could find about KS and cancer generally – I knew a little about blood cancers because of my father’s Leukemia (which took his life in November 2013), but nothing about other cancers. There was a lot to learn. In that search, I discovered the medical sites, like NIH only had references to using THC for managing pain and nausea. But stumbled upon this website about psilocybin (magic mushrooms), and watched the two movies. In one of them (“Dosed: The Trip of a Lifetime”), there was a woman with cancer who, while on her psychedelic trip, discovered THC could cure her cancer when used in HIGH doses. You can find the two movies here: https://www.dosedmovie.com/
My first visit to Dr. Ram (2nd oncologist) was July 10, 2018. He reviewed all the case notes from the prior doctor before my visit – and ordered another metabolic panel of blood tests.
He concurred with the prior doctor and said the cancer looks aggressive and surgery was likely the best option. I asked him to give me 30 days to tackle it on my own, and he agreed. I then started taking THC at a 100mg dose every evening before going to bed. I can’t smoke marijuana because of my asthma, so I started with gummies (5-20 every night = up to 100mg), then found a tincture that is 800mg for 30ml, so a 1ml dose is 26.6mg. I had to gradually increase the dosage until I was able to stay conscious after taking 26.6mg.
Cancer is Shrinking!
I practice meditation, so in my sessions I focused on being cancer free. When Dr. Ram checked me at 30 days, he said, “the lesions are not growing”, so he gave me until 90 days to check again. After the 90 days he said they appeared to be shrinking. After 6 months he said they were still shrinking.
In 2021 Jim and I decided to retire. We were in the middle of COVID19 and since Jim was diagnosed with prostate cancer (aggressive) in 2020, we didn’t want to keep pushing. The retirement caused us to go on Social Security and Medicare, so we had to change doctors.
My new oncologist, Dr. Gollard, ran another PET scan and metabolic blood test on 12/12/22. He said that I have ZERO cancer in my body, and that I only needed to see him once a year for follow-up. I have had metabolic blood tests each year and I’m still cancer free.
Journey With Cancer Continues…
I discovered that the THC also helped reduce the pain in my rotator cuffs (both shoulders), and the neuropathy in my feet and legs so I continue the same 266mg dose every evening just before bed. I generally sleep 7-8 hours every night, and remarkably, have very little hangover from the THC the next day. Of course, I no longer drive because I don’t need to have a mishap that causes a blood test that will show high THC in my blood, but otherwise life moves forward with reduced pain, and I feel that I’m still functioning well despite the THC in my system.
Because THC (from marijuana) is not legal in all 50 states (as of this publish date – only 24 States have legalized marijuana), I cannot recommend this for anyone, but I encourage you to watch the “Dosed” movies and decide for yourself if this a course to help you though your cancer experience. Feel free to contact me with questions. I cannot give you medical advice, but I can share more of my experience with anyone on a journey with cancer.
Namaste!
Oh Randy! I am so shocked, but very relieved to learn that you are now cancer free! I’ve heard that THC can cure cancer, but I’ve never seen or heard of someone’s story.
I was HIV positive, and now undetectable and healthy for 22 years, due to my medication adherence. Cancers are very common in people with people with immune system deficiency. It’s a big fear of mine. Thank you for sharing your story!
